“Popcorn is prepared in the same pot, in the same heat, in the same oil, but it doesn’t all pop at the same time. Don’t compare your child to others. Their time to pop is coming.”

Allyson Phillips

Writer’s Workshop

Ms. Allyson will be coming back to JLC this year as our Writing Workshop teacher, working with intermediate students to strengthen their writing skills in all genres. Ms. Allyson attended The University of Central Florida and majored in English with a specialty in Creative Writing.

She spent 12 years working in the public school system in Central Florida as a high school and middle school English teacher, teaching differing levels including AP, IB, and AICE classes.

In 2016, Allyson moved to South Florida to help care for her parents. She has always remained in the education field and did contract work for Coastal Middle and High School and has been contracted as a private tutor. Most recently, she worked for herself as an educational consultant within her own practice, Ally Educational Consulting.

She loves teaching English and Writing as it is a lifelong skill and helps immensely with communication. Ms. Allyson also loves to see students expand their vocabulary and create imagery and descriptive experiences.

Ms. Allyson believes, “Our kids are exposed to so much visually that I have seen a decline in the written word. I am excited to focus on student’s self expression through various techniques.”

Sarah Granato

Yoga & Mindfulness and Growth Mindset

Ms. Sarah has been teaching Yoga, Mindfulness, and Meditation for 14 yrs, receiving her advanced certification from Kailash Tribal Yoga School in McLeod Ganj, India. Sarah teaches students of all ages but loves sharing the practices of yoga and mindfulness with children (and families) because it gives them tools to manage big emotions at a young age. Another favorite part of teaching kids is how much they teach her! Prior to becoming a Yoga teacher, Sarah studied Acting at Southern Methodist University and is very excited to revisit that passion by offering a Theatre class at Jupiter Learning Community.
